Q. How secure is the wireless network in the member's office?

The wireless network is behind a Altient firewall while in the member's office. What the firewall does is an additional security level that deters outsiders from gaining access to a member's network. If a member chooses to also implement a wireless network at home, Altient will provide security recommendations. Altient enables the office to transfer information with 128-bit encryption that is the highest level of standard security today.

Q. Can I network my current systems with your member service?

If a member wants to connect their current systems with the Altient network, they may do so either through a cable connection or wireless connection, as long as they have network compatible systems with either a USB port or a PC Card slot and, at minimum, Windows 95B for a wireless connection, or a network card and, at minimum, Windows 95 for a cable connection, and have at least a pentium processor. There will be an additional fee to members for wireless components or cable work per system.

Q. What are the technological and functional limitations of your member service?

The WaitingPatient Edutainment Center is utilized as an Internet Station without computer drive capabilities. The RescueMed system is a state-of-the-art computer with a wireless pc card, cd and floppy drives, speakers, and installed with a standardized operating system. Any system that fits the specification of networking current systems with the member service is eligible to access the high-speed network.

Q. Do I have to leave the member service on all the time?

Yes, so that we Altient may monitor the network.

Q. Do I have to add the member service to my current fire and theft insurance plan?

Yes, it is generally no extra expense for you, and it will ensure that the Altient network is insured.

Q. What if a member wants to cancel?

A member may cancel at any time with at least thirty days of confirmed written notice to Altient.

Q. What specialty does the member have to be?

There is no current restriction on specific specialties.

Q. Where do the Edutainment and RescueMed systems need to be physically placed in the office?

The WaitingPatient Edutainment Center needs to be placed in a visible area of the waiting room, and the RescueMed system can be placed anywhere the member chooses, so long as it is also in the same suite or building if a practice has multiple levels.

Q. Do you have a referral program for members? If so, what do I receive if I refer someone?

Altient does have a referral program. We currently do not offer incentives, but just ask that members inform their colleagues of the benefits of becoming a member. The most referrals will receive a prize at the end of the Calendar Year.

Q. What is the member obligation to receive the member service?

There is no obligation for the member except to pay the respective fee per package.
